wishing you a merry colorado christmas

merry christmas to all, and to all a good night! see you in the new year.

string shelving

this simple, practical shelving was originally introduced by nisse strinning in 1949, and became an instant classic. it was recently reintroduced, and it's kind of wonderful. but what i love most about the string shelving is the prop styling on their product shots. simple, colorful, and so divinely scandinavian.

another snowy wedding

another totally gorgeous snowy wedding.

amsterdam at christmas

i think i'd like to go to amsterdam at christmas.

stay on a houseboat, and explore the cobblestone streets.

thanks, pia!

scared of santa

check out these classic photos of children who are scared of santa.
...also, wouldn't you love to have this gorgeous tree? a perfect small-space solution for those of us celebrating christmas (and hanukkah) in cramped quarters.

or maybe you'd like your house to look like this on christmas morning? look, more paperwhites! check out the city sage for more sound holiday advice and wonderful ideas.

boyfriend jeans

i have a new obsession with boyfriend jeans. so i need your help - which ones should i get?
*disclaimer: i know that these are wildly too expensive, but i cannot rest until i own a pair.

these are the ones i'm leaning towards...available at ron herman for all you lucky california girls.

these, from j brand.

these vintage levi's 501's from what goes around comes around.

beautiful backyard

i would do awful, disgusting things to have this as my backyard.

but if it was my backyard, i think my life would be exponentially more fabulous.

i love thursdays

here are a few of my favorite things, to celebrate my favorite day of the week.

i love this fireplace, found via emily, from the always adorable domino mag (shh, don't tell anyone that i'm reading the competition).

i adore this furry hat, and this furry hood.

i'm digging keri russell's androgynous style in this month's instyle. view the rest of the images here. the best part? her laid-back boyfriend jeans are from american eagle.

i heart this cozy collar.

i'm going to plant these paperwhites this weekend.

i wish i were as cool as this mother-daughter duo.

and finally, i wish this fuzzy gray turban were waiting for me on the first night of hanukkah (though i might have ordered it already).
happy thursday, everyone.

hello my name is rachel, and i am obsessed with french women.

her cape is so gorgeous - and in just the right color. {via here}

happy wednesday.

sticking with the snow theme...

...here is another adorable wedding idea. sadie and loc got married in a small hillside ceremony in andover, mass., and then they used a sled adorned with tin cans as their getaway vehicle!

{photos here, via here}

snow!

right now, it is doing this outside.

and i would like to be drinking a cup of this.

{first image, second image}

...also, check out this gorgeous photo of snow on the gondolas in venice.

krysten ritter

i'm loving these images from the selby of krysten ritter's home in california. i love that even though she's a hollywood star, her home is understated, and has kind of a flea-market vibe to it.

i especially love the prop styling on the last two. it's so simple, yet it manages to show exactly what her home life consists of. a small pot on the stove, or a collection of objects that hold significance for her. this is something that i love most about the selby's photographs. they really reduce people down to their most basic elements, and give you an intimate peek into the lives of other people.

prom-themed wedding

ok, new favorite wedding idea (you know, for that wedding i'm having in my dreams). the groomsmen all in white, and the vintage prom dresses for the bridesmaids - too cute.

this would take a very special bridal party and some very special dresses to keep this from looking cheese-tastic, but i think that these ladies and gents managed to pull it off in style. plus, how totally beautiful is the dress? loves it.
i don't know about you, but this looks like a rockin' dance party to me - totally prom-style.

...and to escape together afterwards in a little boat built just for two? oh so romantical.

tina fey "30 rocks" my world

tina fey is such a classy chick. i think she's so great, and her show, 30 rock, is even greater. i think there's a little liz lemon in all of us, and, after reading this article in vanity fair about her journey to the top, i like her even more.

champagne

this is glamorous always has such lovely things - i thought this would be a great addition to the new year's party candlelight countdown idea. you know, the new year's party that i'll be having in my dreams while in reality i sit on my couch and watch the ball drop and drink hot cocoa with my little brother. not that i'm complaining.

j'adore berets

how is it that parisian women dress so effortlessly?

i absolutely adore this girl's chic "raspberry beret," her classy gray ankle booties and her oversized clutch. i wish i could dress like this all the time. {via the sartorialist}

scandinavian christmas

hello to my 5 loyal readers (heh, heh). i'm sorry i've been m.i.a. for the last couple of days - i was doing some "real" work at my "job" - a couple of very fun and gorgeous photo shoots that will soon grace the pages of met. home. while i was at one of the shoots, we got to talking about christmas, which is just around the corner, yay! one of my colleagues lived in scandinavia for quite awhile and she was telling us that the christmas lights there are completely out of control. she said that they put tins filled with oil lining the streets, and just light them on fire and let them burn into the night. she said it's one of the most gorgeous and terrifying things she's ever seen. i was anxious to see these lights for myself, but my quest through flickr proved fruitless. i did, however, manage to find these gorgeous images of a scandinavian christmas, via doorsixteen's fantastic flickr page.

i have basically come to the conclusion that i only want what i can't have. i'm jewish, and my family goes to the movies on christmas. but all i long for is a beautiful white scandinavian christmas. and of course you're all privy to my wedding obsession, even though a wedding in my future is highly unlikely! ah well, at least i have this blog to unleash all of my irrational desires!
